The
Alaska Partnership for Teacher Enhancement is proud to present the Summer
2005 Institutes.
These standards-based
institutes have been developed as highly interactive so educators may
explore new and different ways to develop curriculum and instruction that
address real life Alaskan issues while improving leadership and teaching
behaviors so that all students can achieve academic excellence.

The 2005
Mathematics Summer Institute will be focused on elementary and
middle school content and teaching strategies. There will be a strong
focus on using rural Alaskan contexts and Native ways of knowing for teaching
mathematics lessons and units. Hands-on experiences and a problem-solving
approach will serve as the foundation for learning experiences. National
and state standards will be addressed. It will be relevant, interesting
and fun!

Alaska Railbelt area. Fort Richardson and Elmendorf AFB jointly employ
over 9,000 active duty military personnel, while the tourism and recreation
industries continue to grow in the area. Anchorage has over 162 parks,
