  • This was such an enlightening experience. I have gained so much info. To use and incorporate into my communication and dialogue.
  • It was terrific! I learned so much!
  • Very good training. Nice pace-learned a lot.
  • High caliber in terms of content and process. Well organized. Skilled presenters were sensitive and responsive to participants.
  • Institute was well planned
  • OUTSTANDING JOB!!
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed this training! It truly gave me a "shot in my arm" to go back this year and look at my teaching differently. I am energized and thank you for this opportunity to be in at the ground level with this professional change shift. You were fun, knowledgeable and best of all your respect of attendees and their experience was sincere. I felt valued! ;-)
  • Thanks for giving me some valuable information and tools to utilize.
  • I enjoyed every second! I will never think of Musk Ox the same.
  • The atmosphere was one of total acceptance. It has given me a more rounded idea of where the native kids I teach are coming from. Especially the trip to the village. I know I will be more sensitive to their issues in the future. It was great to get Margie's eloquent perspective on things from the native viewpoint. That was invaluable. I will be looking for these institute classes in the future. Not only for myself, but to urge others to participate also.
  • This was one of the best institutes I've ever attended. I enjoyed our various presenters.
  • This workshop has been excellent with excellent instructions.
  • Enjoyable, full of wonderful ideas. Lots of group interaction.
  • This class has been very educational and interesting. I have learned so many different ways to teach my students.
  • Awesome course in Chevak!! All instructors were informative and well versed in content areas and reaching course objectives!!

What was the most meaningful part of the Institute?

  • The most meaningful part of the Institute was effective strategies and techniques to become a better leader.
  • Learning that each person who is a leader.
  • Visiting concept of leadership as a group attribute not an individual quality
  • Practical skills, "tools for my toolbox"
  • Excellent mentoring strategies, techniques and ideas.
  • Having all the speakers and elders to talk with us-learned a lot!!
  • The people sharing their stories and experiences were deeply moving for me. I felt a respect for diversity. The trip to Bethel and Akiachak was an experience all teachers should have so they can better understand how people in the bush live.
  • The trip to the village was very informational. Instructor was very knowledgeable and kept things moving well. Having secondary and elementary teachers together was a great experience.
  • The bonding with other teachers and the sharing of information was exceptionally positive. For me, the experience of visiting Bethel and Achiachak ahs influenced me forever about education in rural Alaska. I realize this state has been-in many ways-unresponsive, even ignorant about, the challenges in non-urban Alaska!
  • The visit to Akiachak-being able to see a village in rural Alaska first hand gave me a whole new perspective on what "standards" these students should be expected to meet in order to receive their high school diploma.
  • Excellent instructors! They kept us moving/everyone shared their ideas, discoveries; it was motivating.
  • The whole institute was meaningful. Cultural reflection, learning Chevak's history from its people, subsistence issues and awareness.
