Description: For the federal fiscal year October 1, 2004 to September 30, 2005, the Alaska Partnership for Teacher Enhancement (APTE) is offering grant funds to groups of educators in Professional Development Schools in the Kashunamiut, Lower Kuskokwim and Yupiit School Districts and specific schools within the Anchorage School District who wish to examine an instructional or curricular problem or issue that they believe demands greater study. Anchorage schools eligible include: Abbott Loop, Campbell, Chinook, Kasuun, Mountain View, Spring Hill, Taku, Trailside, Tyson William, Williwaw and Wonder Park Elementary Schools; Bartlett, Dimond, East, Service and South High Schools, plus Central, Mears, Mirror Lake and Wendler Middle Schools.

For the current fiscal year, the award for any project is up to $1,500. The APTE Director will review proposals and awards will be announced November 1, 2004.

Purposes of Grants: (1) to enable educators to address issues that demand attention and resources that are beyond the normal school improvement resources; and (2) to support educators in developing their capacities to carry out inquiries into curricular and instructional issues.

Deadline for Submission: October 15, 2004. (If available funds are not all committed during this first round of proposals, we will accept proposals that come to us after that date until the funds are depleted).
